Shortly after having a baby, you might want to venture out of the house. Though it poses a multitude of questions. What to pack? What to do? Where accommodates the unique needs of moms and babies?
First, you think of what to bring. For me, I grab either the baby bjorn or a stroller and my diaper bag. Packed in the diaper bag are the mere essentials: diapers, wipes, backup outfit for baby, burp cloth, swaddling blanket, snacks for mom and pacifier. If CJ drank formula, then I’d bring a bottle too.
Then, you consider where to go. Walking, shopping and socializing are all fun options. If you are brave enough to hop in a car, then consider a short drive to Corte Madera shopping center. Always on my list of places to visit is Nordstroms, which has a fantastic lounge for nursing moms. Equipped with comfy chairs and a changing table, moms can relax while feeding and changing baby. Pottery Barn Kids also offers large comfortable chairs in which moms can melt and take a load off.
While there you can drop into a few fun kids clothing stores – Peek, Janie & Jack, Gymboree and BabyGap, my personal favorite. There is even a store carrying all sorts of yummy toys and lovely gear – Giggle. So, be sure to check it out.
As kids get older, you’ll note that there are other kid friendly things let your tot burn energy at the outdoor playground or let them test out toys at Pottery Barn Kids. You can even enjoy a meal at Boudin Bakery where tots are given rolls in the shape of animals to satisfy their appetites while your meal is being prepared.
